Building a structure brick by brick is physically strenuous; conversely, the pen is a tool used for the elegant practice of philosophy and writing. Thus, How to Build With a Pen is a journal for interdisciplinary architecture essays from a philosophical and narrative perspective. All great art is defined by its ability to tell a story. Architecture is no exception.

About the Author

My name is Sampson Kanishka. I am an undergraduate student at the University of Utah majoring in architecture with an emphasis on penology and prison design. I also study philosophy—particularly Randian and Kantian ideas—and its application to infrastructure.
